Patients Deserve Better – last throw of the dice!
On September 20th the Neurological Alliance of Ireland held the final ‘Patients Deserve Better’ meeting at Buswells Hotel in Dublin to present the pre-budget submission to the TDs. There was a large number of representatives from other neurological groups across Ireland pushing the message of how important it is to have the specialist nurses we were promised in the upcoming Budget. A commitment of 20 specialist nurses was made at our meeting on July 6th with Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly. The ask from CPA is that two of the 6 specialist nurses requested for CUH would be ring-fenced for Parkinson’s. Unfortunately, Stephen was unable to meet us on the day as agreed, however, we leveraged this as a great opportunity to network with other TDs who were in the Hotel culminating in an interview for NewsTalk outside the gates of Leinster house where we met more TDs,

It was heart-warming to see so many TDs who have supported us along the way in attendance. It shows that our message is out there and they understand how important specialist nurses are.
